In the month of January 2018 I have a marriage invitation from one of my college friend who belongs to Dewas, I accepted the invitation and plan a trip to Madhya Pradesh. So the plan is, will start from Delhi on Wednesday night, on the Thursday morning will reach Dewas, after having some rest will go to Chamunda Devi Temple of Dewas. On the next day, we will attend the marriage function, and after that we will move forward to Omkareshwar, after covering Omkareshwar will return to Indore in evening and stay in Indore at one of my old friend's place. On the third day, we will go to Ujjain and from Ujjain we have our return train. The schedule is very tight, but we are usual to these things.
Some information about Dewas:
Dewas meand 'dev' and 'vas', a place where dev vas i.e. a place where god resides.
The name Dewas is derived from the Devi Vaishini hill in the city, commonly known as Tekri. The hill has a temple of the deities Devi Tulja Bhawani, Chamunda Mata and Kalika Mata. The word Dewas is believed to be a sandhi of the words Dev (deity) and Vas Marathi (abode), so Dewas means house of the god. Swami Shivom Tirtha wrote the history of the hill (Tekri ) of Dewas in his book, Sadhan Shikhar. (Source Wikipedia)
This place is located at a distance of 35 Kilometers from Indore and 153 Kilometers from the capital city Bhopal.
The passenger list included me, Neha, and one of my friend from Noida, basically he is from Gwalior. We spent so much time together and have a very good tuning with each other. Train tickets were booked and other preparation were also done, now we were waiting for the date to come. On date of traveling, we finished our office bit early and reached station on time with our luggage. There are two train routes available for Indore, the first one is via Gwalior and another one is via Kota. The route via Kota is shortest in term of distance as well in travel time, so we took the Kota route. Trains starts on the scheduled time and after setting our luggage we were trying to sleep.
We were totally exhausted and slept with in few minutes, when we wake up we were nearby Nagda Junction, the direction of engine change here so it's a 20 to 30 minute stop. Me and Pradeep step out on the platform and looking for tea and some breakfast, the platform was so neat and clean and dustbins are available on multiple places. We saw a food vendor who was selling tea and poha at Rs 5 and Rs 10 respectively. I don't think a cup of tea is available at Rs 5 on any railway station. Poha is like a national food in the Malwa reagion, you can easily get poha 24*7 at any place.
After finishing tea and poha we were inside the train, the next stop was Ujjain, and the surrounding was so beautiful. Like Haridwar, Allahabad, Varanasi, Ujjain is also a city of temples. Ujjain is also known as Kumbh city. Shhipra was visible from the train route and the over all scene was beautiful, but I don't have my camera in my hand, so I was not able to capture that moment. After Ujjain, the next stop was Dews, and it's our destination, we reached Dewas at around 10:00 AM, we took an auto for our hotel and the fare was Rs 50.

After having some rest and we were ready for Chamunda Devi temple, the place was around 1 to 2 kilometers from our hotel, we took a water bottle, camera and going towards the Tekri by an auto. The temple is situated on a mountain with a height of around 300 feet, there are three ways to reach the temple, slope way, steps, roapway. Neha and Pradeep wants to go and come back by roapway, but I want to took roapway from one side and by foot at the time of returning, by this way I get the time to capture the nearby places in my mind as well in camera. But due to some misunderstanding, our auto dropped us on slope way and after some discussion we were ready to go and some back by slope.
Slope way to reach temple
After buying some prasad and bowing at the entry gate we started walking towards the temple. Winter was over and summer started and it was not easy to walk in such weather so were taking stops on time to time and I was capturing the scenes in my camera in these stops.

First sight of the temple
After some time we were at the roapway exit point, from this point the temple is around 200 meters. From this point, Dewas city was looking so beautiful, wo took a five minute break to enjoy the scene.
Dewas city view from Dewas Tekri
After relaxing for some time, we move forward to the temple, there are two main temples of Goddess situated on this tekri and a temple of Bhairav and a temple of Bajrangbali is also there, in all these four temple the statues are natural. The environment of temple and its surrounding was so beautiful, we offered the prayer sit in the front of temple for some time and I felt like Goddess was listening to every one and fulfilling their wishes.
Badi Mata (Maa Tulja Bhawani) temple
The surrounding was so scenic so I could not stop myself from capturing some random shots and after that we were moving forward to the Badi mata ka mandir, and on the way we found some other small temples as well. With in few minutes we reached at badi mata ka mandir, this is the biggest temple on this mountain, having a proper place with benches to sit and also having other facilities like drinking water etc. We never saw such a beautiful natural statue in our life. After offering the prayer we came out of the temple but still our desire to see the status was not end so we sit there for some more time, its an incredible view.
Chamunda Devi
Chamunda Devi Temple
After spending 10 minutes in front of temple, we were going to Kal Bhairav temple, which is situated in a small cave by the side of Chhoti mata ka mandir, there was a lamp illuminated near by the statue of Kal Bhairav, after praying for some time we come outside of that cave.

The road was like a circular path, after Chhoti Mata mandir move forward and you will be again on the same place i.e. the exit point of roapway. We were also moving forward and capturing the moments in our camera, we just love this small city.
We were again on the same place from where we have started, after putting the shoes we were planning to take the roapway route, but when we inquired the same with local peoples we came to know that the exit point of roapway was at Bhopal road, and its too far from our hotel, so we drop that idea and started walking on the same path which we choose at time of climb. It was easier to get off compared to climbing, on the way we saw a water point and the water is far better than the packaged drinking water we have, so we drank as much as we can and move forward.
Temple flags
After moving some distance we show a board that was directing towards some parikrma marg, on which a copy of Laxman Jhula, Rishkesh was made, we took our camera and click some random photos and after 5 minutes we were standing on the same shop from where we bought the prasad. We want to take some memory from this place so we buy a photo frame of the tekri.
Me and Neha at copy of Laxman Jhula
After praying one more time to the goddess we took an auto and moving forward to our hotel and there was a song playing somewhere in my mind - "Koi fariyad tere dil mein dabi ho jaise..."
The people of this small town are very good, there is a separate dignity in the environment here.
After watching all these things I realize one thing, the real life exists in small cities, villages.
In big cities we all are just fulfilling our requirements.
And the story ends here. I will be back soon with a new story of some random place :)
