Ujjain (Ujjayini) is a major city of the Indian state of Madhya Pradesh, which is situated on the banks of river Shipra. This is a very ancient city. It was the capital of the state of Vikramaditya. It is also known as the city of Kalidas. Every 12 years there is a Simhastha Kumbh Mela organised here. One of the jyotirling among the 12 is also situated here with the name "Mahakal".
Ujjain is 55 km from Indore, the largest city of Madhya Pradesh. The ancient names of Ujjain are Avantika, Ujjayani, Kanaksharna etc. Ujjain is the city of temples, there are several pilgrimages.
The origin of Bhairava can be traced to a conversation between Brahma and Vishnu which is recounted in the Shiva Mahapuranam. In it, Vishnu inquired of Brahma, "Who is the supreme creator of the Universe?" Arrogantly, Brahma told Vishnu to worship him as Supreme Creator. One day, Brahma thought "I have five heads. Shiva also has five heads. I can do everything that Shiva does and therefore I am Shiva." Brahma became a little egotistical as a result of this. Additionally, he began to forge the work of Shiva and started interfering in what Shiva was supposed to be doing. Consequently, Mahadeva (Shiva) threw a small nail from his finger which assumed the form of Kala Bhairava and casually went to cut off one of Brahma's heads. The skull (Kapala) of Brahma is held in the hands of Kala Bhairava, Brahma’s ego was destroyed and he became enlightened. From then on, he became useful to himself and to the world, and deeply grateful to Shiva. In the form of the Kala Bhairava, Shiva is said to be guarding each of these Shaktipeeths. Each Shaktipeeth temple is accompanied by a temple dedicated to Bhairava.
There is another school of thought which says that Shiva himself created Bhairava. There was one demon by name Dahurāsuraṇ who got a boon that he could be killed only by a woman. Kali was invoked by Parvati to kill him. The wrath of Kali killed the demon. After killing the demon, her wrath metamorphosed as a child. Kali fed the child with her milk. Shiva made both Kali and the child to merge with him. From this merged form of Shiva, Bhairava appeared in his eight forms (Aṣṭāṅga Bhairavas). Since Bhairava was thus created by Shiva, he is said to be one of the sons of Shiva. Source: Wikipedia
About 8 km from Ujjain city of Madhya Pradesh Kala Bhairav Temple is situated on the banks of the river Shipra, and is about five kilometers away from Mahakal temple. This temple of Kalbhairav is believed to be about six thousand years old, this place is slightly apart from the main city. This is a Tantric temple, in such temples meat, liquor, sacrifice, and currency are offered.

In the temple there is a large statue of Bhairav, which has a face like a human face, in front of this statue, the idol of Batuk Bhairav is also present in the swing. Other statues of gods and goddesses are installed on the outer walls. And in the middle of the temple a tower is located, on which thousands of lamps lit by the time of Aarti.
Clear sky and the beautiful temple
Here, a story is very famous among the people, according to that, many years ago an english officer had done intensive scrutiny of it, where the liquor is gone. For this, he had digg a lot of depth around the statue, but nothing resulted. After that the British also became a devotee of Kaal Bhairav.
As you see Prasad's shops outside of other temples, you will see official liquor shops outside this temple. Country made liquor as well as foreign liquor are available here. You can buy any size of bottle and it will be an offering from your side. Since the liquor in the temple is offered in the form of offerings then you have to bear the alcohol smell as you enter the main entrance of this temple.
You will see a bottle in the hands of every person who comes to the temple, the priest of the temple puts a flat bowl in his hand and puts the bottle in the mouth of God, and the bottle starts flowing, and is consumed by Bhairav itself. After offering to the Lord, the remaining liquor is returned to you in the form of Prasad.

During the 2016 Ujjain Simhastha, the state government banned liquor sales in Ujjain for a month, but allowed the shops in front of the temple to sell alcohol.
A tower is located in the middle of the temple, on which there are so many lamp available and every lamp is lit at the time of Aarti. Its booking is done in temple and online and you have to book atleast one to two month before. Every lamp of this tower is filled before half an hour by a man, who climbed till the top and fill them with oil and baati and after that they lit all the lamps during aarti and it seems like a very big lamp is burning.
Due to being in seclusion, the atmosphere here is quite comfortable, you can spend an hour or so while sitting in the temple courtyard or outside shops. At these shops you will get a tea, snack etc.
Overall, this is a very wonderful temple, coming here you will find something new which you will not believe in easily. But when I came myself and seeing everything with my eyes, I was convinced that "where faith is, there is no scope for doubt".
While writing this blog, it has been tried so hard that no facts should be written wrong, but if anything has been written incorrectly, then please forgive me.
