Gwalior is the city where I had spent 25 years of my life, the best thing about this city is that there is a lot of places to hang around, like mountain, river, pond, waterfalls, dam etc.
While living in Gwalior, I used to explore the surrounding places to find out some new place to go there, one spot was discovered in this exploration, which is named as "Sultangarh", here a huge natural waterfall on the Parvati river. Sultangarh waterfall is a famous and attractive tourist spot in Mohana district. Parvati river gives beauty to this waterfall.
How to reach:
After crossing Mohna Parvati river bridge on the Shivpuri road from Gwalior, there is a turn on the left hand, through which a trail path goes inside the jungle, turning it on and about 3 kilometers on the raw path you will be see Sultan waterfall. This place is around 70 kilometers from Gwalior and it is 50 kilometers from Shivpuri.
You have to go here by your own means, otherwise you have to walk 3 kilometers inside the main road. The trail is not in very good condition but you can take your bike or four wheeler upto the waterfall. If you have a slight doubt about the path, then you can approach the Mohana and ask for the path ahead of anyone.
Best time to visit:
Apart from the extreme heat season, you can go here anytime, during the rainy season, this entire area is covered with greenery.

Apart from the summer, you can go here anytime, during the rainy season, this entire area is covered with greenery, at that time the place is worth seeing.
Other information:
Try to take food and drinks with you as this place is in the middle of a forest where you will not find anything and the nearest market is in Mohana where you will get the basic necessary items only, if you think you have pizza, burgers here, than this place is not for you. If you have arrangements for making food, then you can try your hand at making some good food here, there is no shortage of firewood here. But, while lighting up the fire, keep in mind that the surrounding forest is not affected by the fire you have ignited and after completion of the work, put some water on the fire to extinguish it.
Note: Because this place is located outside of the city and is also away from the main road inside the dense forest, so try to go here in a group and come back to the city before the day is over.
September 2015, on one Sunday morning I want to go somewhere with my friends, because I am the most stroller in my group, I was given the task of deciding the place. I finish the plan to go to Sultangarh without spoiling any time, I had been to this place with some of my friends during the last winter, but these friends have not seen this place yet, then it is advisable to go here.
At around 10:00 am, after having the breakfast, we started the trip on our bikes and heading towards Sultangarh with the intent of straying. On the way of Sultangarh there is a place named as "Kanher Jhiri" which is a very beautiful place, as I already told you that this place is on the way and we have enough time so we decided to take a halt here, will tell you the story of this place some other day.
Me and Neha at Kanher Jhiri
Well, after exploring Kanher Jhiri, we had reached Mohan at around 01:00 PM, all of us were too much hungry and we didn't find any food joint after this place, so we stopped here for a meal on a roadside dhaba.
On Gwalior to Shivpuri highway you will find a lot of roadside dhaba's and all of them have 'Sev tamatar' in their menu, yo can order this if you want to try some new cuisine.
After having food we proceeded and in the next half hour we were on the Sultangarh waterfall. It is a huge natural waterfall on the Parvati river, where water falls below a hundred feet height, there are large rocks around which water passes through.
Because there was not much heat in the weather due to the month of September, we used to sit on the shore for a while and see the waterfall and friends were continuously clicking the photos, this is a place where you can plan a picnic or outing with your family, you can spend 4 to 5 hours with ease and if you have the food to cook, then you can easily cook it here, as there is no shortage of wood to burn.
After sitting on the shore sometime, we moved towards the waterfall, as I have told you before, I can not stop myself after seeing the water, so I walked toward waterfall to take a bath.
By reaching in the edge of waterfall we found a place which is safe, where our feet do not slip, and if it slips then we do not fall into the pool, after finding such a place, we all started enjoying the dip in the water. Before entering in the edge of waterfall, I was just in the side to take the bath, after going to the water, even more friends had come to me, you can understand the story through the pictures.
We spent almost the whole day doing this and at around 04:00 PM we started moving towards the city, our clothes were wet, which dried up on their own on the way. As soon as our clothes got dry completely, it began to rain, we did not stop the bike. We keep pace with the speed, it was fun to walk in this rainy season. After reaching the city, all people drank tea in one place, and returned home around 06:30 PM.
Happy traveling
