For the first time in 2012, I went to the Govrdhan and did the parikrama. After that it becomes a routine for me and till today's date I did this parikrama 8 - 10 times, and have taken many friends along with me here too.
Information:
Govardhan or Goverdhan is a key pilgrimage centre in India and a municipal town; a nagar panchayat ; seat of a MLA Member of Legislative Assembly of Uttar Pradesh; a Tehsil, in Mathura district in the India in state of Uttar Pradesh. About 23 kilometres from Mathura, the town is on the road link between Mathura and Deeg.

Each year Hindus and other people make a pilgrimage to Govardhan, and its sacred Govardhan Hill, from other places in India and other places in the world to offer their obeisance to Krishna and Radha, key figures in Indian epics. One of these, celebrated at the Govardhan Puja, is of the lifting of Govardhan Hill (Giriraj Parvat) to protect the villagers from the flood caused by the Lord of thunder and rain, Indra
How to reach:
Govardhan Dham is situated 20 kilometers from Mathura Railway Station, Mathura Junction is an important station of the North Central Railway zone, which is situated on the Delhi-Bhopal Railway route.
From Mathura junction one can get a trains up to Jammu via Delhi, and on the other side there are trains upto Kanyakumari via Bhopal are available. There are also trains available for many major cities of Rajasthan.
Located on the Alwar-Mathura route, 120 km from Alwar city of Rajasthan, there are many buses available from Alwar.
Outside Mathura Railway Station, you will see a lot of magic and auto, which will give you access to Govardhan, if you do not get any vehicle from here, then do not get frustrated, at distance of 1 kilometer from the railway station "Bhuteshwar bus stand" is located, from here buses are available for Govardhana on regular basis. The bus, magic and auto fare vary between 30 to 50 rupees depending on day-to-day.
Best time to visit:
you can go here from 365 days of the year, but on a few occasions lot of devotees come here and these occasions are every full moon night (Purnima), Guru Purnima, Holi, Krishna Janmashtami, every day of Chatur (Adhik) Mas.
Because most people walk on foot, or did Parikrm bare feet, then in the days of excessive summer most people did parikrama in night, and in the winter you can choose night or day according to your convenience.
Now the next question comes in your mind will be, whether it is safe to do parikrama in the night? So here, I would like to tell you that the security you feel in your city in the day is relatively less than the night's of Govardhan. People here are always ready for your every kind of help, street shops are open to service overnight in parikrama path, male or female can do this parikrama without any fear in the night.
Magic or bus will drop you to the Govardhan bus stand, in case of excessive crowd, they can drop you before the bus stand, in this case you will have to walk further till bus stand. At a distance of just 100 meters from the bus stand, a road turning towards a lane will be seen where a large gate is made, this is the place where the Govardhan Parikrama is completed.
If you want to start the parikrama after taking a dip at Mansi Ganga, then you have to go on the path going inside this gate, after going 500 600 meters on this path, you will see the sights of Mansi Ganga, on the front of the "Mukarvind" temple, here you can a holy dip and after that you can start the parikrama.
After bathing, you will have to return to the same gate from which you came here. Here you will see many shops where you can keep your luggage like bags, these shops are open for 24 hours, by keeping the luggage here and take the slip start the parikrama with no excessive baggage.
The charges for keeping a pair of shoes or a bag is ₹10 only. Most people who visit here do the parikrama bare feet, when you walk bare feet on Braj's raj, it enjoys differently.
The less stuff, the easier it will be to travel. Gopaldas "Neeraj"
Every man has his own abilities, according to him, he should do this parikrama. If you think that you can not walk 21-kilometer on bare feet, you can do it by wearing socks or wearing shoes. If you have some walking problem then the rickshaw, tempo running on this path can help you, but once again I want to say, when you walk bare feet on Braj's raj, it enjoys differently.
From Mansi ganga go back to the same gate, from here you have to move in the straight direction, going a little further, you will see an intersection where you will see lots of food joints, you can try some local food here and go ahead. From here, move straight a bit more and you will see a turning point in the opposite hand of the road and there is a temple on the front whose name is "Dan Ghati", this temple is having a stone of Govardhan mountain and devotee's first worship here and then start the parikrama.
After visiting the Daan ghati temple return to the same turn, let's start this parikrama by taking the name of Lord by bowing down and worshiping the Govardhan mountain, after hardly covering 200 300 meters ahead, you can are able to see the Govardhan Mountain, also called Girraj Mountain, it is on the right side of the parikrama route.
The whole parikrama of Shri Giriraj ji is of seven kos (21 km). Some devotee, according to his convenience, divides Govardhan Parikrama into two parts and do it in two days. These two parikrama are known as Small and Big parikrama. Govardhan village falls in the middle of the parikrama, Radhakunda village on the north side and Pukhari village on the south side. Parikrama starts from Dan ghati and move towards Anyor, Poochhri, Jatipur and ends towards Govardhan is known as Badi Parikrama, and it distance is 4 kos(12 km).
Parikrama started from Govardhan and passes through Udhav kund, Radha kund and ends at Govardhan known as Choti parikrama and it distance is 3 kos(9 km).

Some rules of parikrama:
Normally this parikrama takes 5 hours to complete by walking bare feet, but it depends on your walking speed, so do not get frustrated if it takes 7 hours instead of 5. As long as you are in parikrama full, you will be in Braj, there will be no better thing than this.
In the parikrama route, you will see a sidewalk in the side of the road, which is a road made of soil, wherever you see this pavement, it will be very convenient to walk on it. You can find pavement almost everywhere in the first parikrama, but in the second parikrama you have to walk in the road due to which the second parikrama is harder than the first one, but if you have patience and courage then you will complete it as well.

A large part of the 84 Kos Parikrama Braj comes in Rajasthan, in the same way some part of the Goverdhan parikrama comes to Rajasthan, that means you start the parikrama from Uttar Pradesh and then you reach Rajasthan in a little while come back to Uttar Pradesh.
Where the first parikrama is completed, the second starts from the front lane, there are direction indicators on the walls, apart from this you can also ask any person present there. Where in the first parikrama you see the Govardhan mountain, in the second parikrama, you will see many Kunds, like Shri Radha Kund and Shyamkund, Govindakund etc.
Personal Experience:
In 2012, I had some wish before Girraj Ji, and fortunately it was fulfilled, at that time I went here for the first time. After that it becomes a routine for me and on every year I go there 3 to 4 times, alone or with some of my friend. I got the answers to many difficult questions of my life by visiting here.
While writing this blog, it has been tried so hard that no facts should be written wrong, but if anything has been written incorrectly, then please forgive me.
Jai Shree Radhe
Happy traveling
